It should be noted that Ecuador has been the home of several internationally known artists and painters whose works of fine art are collected and easily recognized. Among them are Manuel Rendon and Oswaldo Guayasamin. Art collectors all over the world value their works of art. One difference between them and Ecuador Artist Jaime Villa is that he has lived his entire life (except for a few trips outside the country) in his native country, choosing to draw his inspiration from the incredible diversity of Ecuador. For example, Banco del Pacifico has a collection of 25 of his paintings, mostly oil on canvas. In addition, El Gran Hotel Guayaquil has a number of his works and included him in the exhibition that it sponsored for its 25th anniversary 2 years ago. The exhibition was attended by many in the art community here and by many prominent politicians of the country.
Recently, Ecuador Artist Jaime Villa was contacted by 2 museums and the Central Bank of Ecuador about exhibiting his works. The Central Bank of Ecuador from mid-January to mid-March hosted an exhibition in the province of Manabi. His show lasted for one month in each of 2 places, the second being in Manta the principal city of the province and a cruise ship destination. One of the museums that have contacted him is in the city of Cuenca and the other is in Baños where he was born and raised. Some of the community leaders in Baños have proposed naming their new museum after him. This is naturally a testament to his influence and importance in the art world here in Ecuador.
